Good for the Hood is a community-focused platform, created to bring people like you together. It's the place where we give you the tools to create meaningful change in your community. The platform and its online series is run by the Good for the Hood team.

Besides being able to access information about a range of events run by Wingecarribee Council and the local community, Good for the Hood offers two online workshops each month with experts sharing their knowledge on sustainability-related subjects. The workshops are also recorded in case you miss any. Workshop themes change each month.

21 Jul: Looking good and saving money

Explore the real value of clothing beyond price tags in this interactive session with Jo Gambale. Learn practical, creative, and budget-friendly ways to care for your wardrobe while understanding the skills, time, and resources behind every garment.

13 Aug: Get off Gas: The Smart Switch

Natural gas was once the gold standard for Australian homes, but today, relying on indoor fossil fuels is expensive, harms the environment, and introduces unnecessary health risks. In this practical session, Brendan Lang maps out exactly how to disconnect the gas meter for good. Discover how to upgrade your heating, cooking, and hot water systems to modern electric alternatives for a safer, cheaper, and greener living environment.

16 Sep: Moving from ideas to action

Often, the challenge isn’t knowing what to do but figuring out how to do it. Join Jo Taranto and Jill Absolom as they reflect on the 2026 @ HOME program. We will share community success stories and help you turn a year's worth of sustainability knowledge into practical, everyday steps for your household. We are also keeping the momentum going by officially launching the @ HOME Summer Challenge. This series of fun, monthly actions run from October through January with fantastic local prizes up for grabs.

Through the Good for the Hood @Home platform, you will:

  • Learn how to make better, sustainable choices
  • Get free resources to help you implement change
  • Access past recordings to explore all elements sustainable living, from how to leave this world lightly (resourceful living) to water efficiency (water)
  • Access a safe place for the local community to share and support one another
  • Access a list of local events that align with your interests
