Council is aware of the AGL proposed Moss Vale Grid-Scale Battery. AGL are notifying residents within a 1-kilometre radius of the proposed site.
The likely planning pathway that AGL will select is a State Significant Development (SSD) application. If lodged, this means the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) is the assessing body - not Council - and the final decision will be made by either the NSW Minister for Planning or the Independent Planning Commission, depending on the level of public interest and other referral requirements.
The first stage of the SSD process is for the Proponent to request a Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs). AGL are currently undertaking preliminary studies to prepare a Scoping Report to support their request for a SEARs, which will likely be made in late March 2026.
We understand the community interest and when we have further information from AGL, we'll update this page.
AGL would like to hear from residents who have received the letter, for questions or feedback please contact AGL's Community Relations Manager, phone: 1800 039 600, email: aglcommunity@agl.com.au
