Council is now commencing major disaster recovery works across the Shire following receipt of funding to repair damage caused by recent natural disasters. These works are funded under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), a cost-sharing agreement between the Australian and NSW Governments. DRFA funding can only be used for identified and approved disaster damage, and works must be specific to the approved claim; it cannot be used for general upgrades or widening.

Disaster recovery takes time, as these projects involve detailed planning, engineering design, and approvals to ensure repairs are safe and long-lasting. The works will not only restore damaged infrastructure but also improve resilience to future disaster events, maintaining safe and reliable access for residents, emergency services, businesses, and visitors. Council remains committed to advocating for faster recovery processes to support regional communities.
