Section 68 -Local Government Approval

To lodge a Section 68 application for Water, Sewer and Stormwater, all mandatory documents listed below must be uploaded via the NSW Planning Portal. The applicant is responsible for selecting all relevant options in the Portal that relate to the proposed works. Applications submitted without correct options selected and the required documentation will be returned for resubmission.

Water Plumbing Works, Sewerage Works and Stormwater Drainage Works

For small scale development (dwellings, sheds etc)

Site plan
Floor plan (for water and sewer)
Stormwater plan, indicating tanks (if any) and discharge point. If disposed on site to indicate type and location of disposal field and may require hydraulic calculations and design certificate
Owners Consent

On Site Detention (OSD) Not Required:

For developments on rural lands zoned RU1, RU2, RU3, RU4, C2, C3 or C4 provided the following measures are implemented:

Runoff from all buildings, roads and paved areas is to be discharged into absorption trenches, onto heavily vegetated areas, or other WSUD solutions that can be reasonably demonstrated to prevent an increase in the rate of runoff into streams, drainage systems or adjoining lots,
Runoff is controlled so that it causes no nuisance or concentration of flow to watercourses or neighbouring properties, and
Runoff is controlled to prevent erosion.

OSD Required:

All other development

For Large scale development (units, commercial, industrial etc)

Site plan
Floor plan (for water and sewer)
Subdivision Plan
Hydraulic plans for stormwater, sanitary drainage, water services and any fire services
Design and supporting model or calculations for control of peak stormwater site discharge
Design certificate in accordance with Council’s Engineering Design Specification D02 – Quality Requirements for Design
