Volunteer for biodiversity

Our Shire is fortunate to have a diverse number of ecological communities and is a biodiversity hotspot with many iconic species, including Koalas, Platypus, Glossy-black Cockatoos and Mittagong Geebung.
Bushcare and Rivercare volunteers form a vital component of our community's efforts to protect and restore those natural areas.
Each year, our community's Bushcare and Rivercare volunteers plant up to 5000 native plants at more than 30 bushland reserves, wetlands, and riparian areas across an area over 3000 ha, with tube stock propagated by volunteers and Council teams at the Wingecarribee Native Plant Community Nursery at Moss Vale.
The Wingecarribee Bushcare and Rivercare program complements private land conservation to improve the overall biodiversity outcomes for the Shire.
If there is a locality or reserve you would like to see rehabilitated or restored, please let us know. We will investigate whether bush regeneration is feasible for that site.
