Youth Voice and Our Future
Young people are at the heart of the climate conversation because it’s their future on the line. Many are already feeling the weight of climate anxiety, but education and action can turn that concern into positive change.
Council holds quarterly sessions with our new Wingecarribee Youth Council to engage on local matters to ensure their voices are heard. We also run whole-day excursions with our schools for the Schools' Environment Day. In September 2025, we also started quarterly in-school environmental film sessions as part of Earth Flix to reach more of our local youth.
In-school learning gives students the tools to understand climate science and imagine solutions, while youth collaboration brings those ideas to life. When young people work together (whether in classrooms, communities, or across the globe), they spark innovation, creativity and hope. Supporting youth voices and empowering them with knowledge ensures they are not just bystanders but leaders in building a safer, more sustainable future. By learning and engaging with our youth today, young people are helping shape a tomorrow that works for everyone.
