Road Ahead: Progress on Repairs and Projects - October

Roadwork crews continued to deliver improvement works across our road network throughout October.   

Pothole Repairs:  

  • A total of 491 potholes were repaired across the shire, including in Moss Vale, Burradoo, Ellsmore Road, Myra Vale Road, Braemar, Willow Vale and Colo Vale. 
  • Outstanding pothole repairs have dropped by 41%, from 630 this time last year to 372. 

Road Upgrades:  

  • 270 road defects were reported, a significant decrease from the 600+ reported each month in August and September. 
  • In November, crews will focus on road defects reported in Purcell Street, Werai, Bundanoon, Penrose, Wingello, and Hill Top. 

Sealed Drainage: Approximately 800 metres of drainage and eight drainage structures and pollutant traps were cleared across Moss Vale, Bowral, Robertson, Colo Vale, Burradoo, Kangaloon and Hill Top.

Unsealed Roads:  

  • Crews completed 8.65 kilometres of grading and 18.9 kilometres of associated drainage on Woodlands Road, Clemens Road, Jellore Road and Birchalls Lane. 
  • Gravel patching was also undertaken at Kells Creek, Spring Hill, Sproules Lane, Orford Road to provide short term relief until full maintenance can be completed.  
  • November works are scheduled for Harrison Lane, Eucalypt Lane, Black Spring Road, Bodycotts Lane, Vermont Road, Wilsons Road, Wilson Lane and Burrawang Station Lane. 

Asphalt Renewal Program: Seasonal programme is scheduled to commence in December 2025 

Resealing Program: 

  • Resealing completed in Bradman Avenue and Stella Street.  
  • Preparation works on Walkers Lane are now finished, including pothole filling, with resealing scheduled for November (weather permitting). 
  • Upcoming locations include Stonequarry Creek Road, Werai and McGraths Road, Burrawang, which are currently under assessment. 

Patching: Large unscheduled patches were completed on Golden Vale Road and Oxleys Hill Road at short notice to address emerging high priority safety risks.   

Eridge Park Pump Station – Burradoo 

The Transfer Water Pumping Station (WPS) at Eridge Park Road, Burradoo, near Elizabeth Street, is a vital infrastructure project designed to increase the water transfer capacity within the network between Moss Vale and Bowral.  

With the new pump station in operation, the flow rate has increased to approximately 145 litres per second (L/s). This provides more reliable water delivery, improved filling of the Hill Road Reservoir, and enhanced overall network performance across the region. Previously, the network struggled to reach full capacity, with a limited flow rate of 75–100 L/s.

The project scope included the design and construction of the pump house, along with associated civil, mechanical and electrical works, transformer upgrades, landscaping and fencing — contributing to a more resilient and flexible water network for the region. 

Key challenges during construction included managing a planned shutdown of the trunk water main that supplies water from the Wingecarribee Water Treatment Plant to Hill Road Reservoir, a critical source for the Moss Vale region, while maintaining minimal disruption to customers. This required extensive coordination for stakeholder notifications, conducting night works, providing temporary water supply to affected businesses, and working within tight timeframes. 

Other significant challenges included upgrading the existing transformer in collaboration with Endeavour Energy and transporting and installing the precast pump station building using a 150-tonne crane along the busy Eridge Park Road.
