Help Bring Earth Flix Screenings to Local Schools – Nominations Now Open

Nominations are now open for schools to take part in Earth Flix: Cinema 4 Change this September, giving local students the chance to experience Rising Up, an award-winning climate documentary created by young filmmaker and advocate Kal Glanznig.

The in-school screenings will occur on Monday, 8 September and is open to Year 5 students and above. Anyone can nominate a school – residents, parents, teachers or students – to ensure as many young people as possible have the opportunity to be part of this inspiring event.

Rising Up follows passionate young Australians who are taking action on climate change, from grassroots community projects to conversations with leaders on the national and international stage. The film highlights the urgency of climate challenges, the power of youth voices, and the hope that comes when ordinary people work together to create change. See trailer below.

Kal will personally attend each screening, leading a Q&A session where students can explore the stories further and ask their own questions about advocacy, leadership, and taking action.

Screenings will take place at three schools in the Bowral/Burradoo area, with capacity for additional schools and students. To suit timetables, three session times are available:

  • 9:15 am – 10:45 am
  • 11:25 am – 12:55 pm
  • 12:20 pm – 1:50 pm

Rising Up is more than a film – it’s a call to action. By watching it together and hearing directly from Kal, students will leave not only more informed but more empowered to think about their role in shaping the future,” said Morwenna Zabaks, Council’s Environment Officer – Sustainability.

Council encourages early nominations so schools can secure a place and organise transport for their students.
