Delivering Better Lighting and Recreation Spaces for the Southern Highlands

The Albanese Labor Government has delivered on its commitment to provide $3 million for upgrades to three sports ovals and parks in the Southern Highlands under the Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program.

The funding will be used to upgrade lighting at Church Road Oval in Moss Vale and David Wood Playing Field in Bowral and also to substantially enhance facilities at Hampden Park in Robertson.

Better lighting at Church Road Oval and David Wood Playing Field

Existing and ageing timber poles will be removed and replaced with new, steel poles.

In addition, outdated halogen globes will be replaced with energy-efficient LED lighting, improving visibility and cutting ongoing maintenance costs.

The funding will also support earthworks, electrical cabling, site remediation and returfing.

These significant upgrades will benefit local sporting clubs, including Moss Vale Football Club and Highlands Football Club, by providing safer, more reliable lighting and extending the hours for training and competition.

Transformation of Hampden Park

The funding will deliver a new pump track, a new skate park and a new children’s play space, expanding recreational facilities for local families and creating a vibrant community hub.

The upgrade also includes new fencing and accessible pathways, making the park safer and easier to navigate for people of all ages and abilities.
