Project Works

Works for this project are expected to commence in April 2024 and forecast for completion by the end of June 2024. The works include:

  • Construction of kerb and gutter
  • Reconstruction of road pavement
  • Construction of concrete driveways at the service station
  • Improved on-street parking provided at the centre of the road
  • Installation of line marking, signage, and turf
Background

Taylor Avenue and Argyle Street are two-lane, sealed roads, with a speed limit of 50 km/hr. Taylor Avenue connects the region to the Hume Highway, Boral cement works, Berrima village, and Mittagong town centre. However, sections of the road exhibit significant pavement deterioration and drainage issues. The scope of works includes installation of new kerbing, guttering, car park construction, line marking, and landscaping. Construction will be staged to minimise disruptions for road users and neighbouring properties. Vehicle access will be maintained throughout the project.

Community Background

Road users and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution in the presence of heavy machinery and construction workers in the area. It is essential to adhere to the altered traffic conditions, stay informed via live traffic updates, and proceed with care when navigating through the construction zone. Emergency service access will remain unimpeded during the construction phase. The Traffic Management Plan will undergo approval by Council. Construction activities will be conducted with the aim of minimising disruptions and inconveniences for both road users and nearby properties. Asphalt-related tasks will be scheduled for night shifts, while concrete-related activities will be allocated to daytime shifts.
