If you’re a student in years 10-12 or studying at TAFE, university or college, an Australian citizen or resident, our work experience program opens the door to real-life opportunities to participate in a role that interests you, with helpful mentoring from seasoned professionals in the field.

You can apply for work experience with Council if:

Complete our online Work Experience Application Form.
Step 3
Use our handy check list to ensure you include all the information we need to process your Work Experience application.
Provide a copy of your education providers Public Liability Insurance and Personal Injury Insurance (your education administration will be able to help you with this)
Step 4
Once your online application form is submitted it will be reviewed by People & Capability team and the Learning and Development Officer will then respond to you.
Yes, you need to arrange indemnity insturance.
Note: If you are currently a student, your education provider will assist with arranging this for you whilst you complete work experience, a certicate of currency.

Each year, a number of positions are offered within our traineeship program to applicants who identify as being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island background. Exemption granted under section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
Council can open doors to cadetships in areas such as engineering, planning and library services if you are studying toward qualifications in these fields.
Our cadetships offer employment for the length of your degree with practical study leave options to help you achieve a balance between your studies and full-time employment. In addition, university tuition fees are paid under Council’s Training and Development Procedure.
