World Wildlife Day Competition 2026

Calling all primary-aged children in the Shire to take part in an art competition to celebrate World Wildlife Day (WWD) 2026. This year’s WWD is celebrated under the theme of “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods.”

We invite you to submit your artwork of wild animals and native plants to raise awareness for wildlife conservation and share the benefits we receive from wild plants and animals.

Artworks can be from individuals, groups or classes.

Artworks can be a sculpture, painting, drawing, collage or combination of all.  Please keep all art pieces to a maximum of 1m2.

Art Competition dates:

Opens: On WWD Tuesday 3 March 2026
Closes: By COB on Monday, 3 August 2026

Entries will be judged on:

• Relevance to theme,
• Use of recycled materials
• Creativity and originality
• Clear environmental message
• Effort and use of colour.

Each winning category will receive a tray of edible/medicinal plants for their school's garden.

Winners will be contacted by phone and email on Monday, 10 August 2026.

Artworks will be displayed at Moss Vale Civic Centre during Biodiversity Month in September.   All entries will be returned to the student's school. 

Prize: Winning entries will also receive a tray of medicinal/aromatic plants for their school garden.
