About the Exhibition
Wingecarribee Remembers is a month-long exhibition promoting connections between the local community and our veterans. The Moss Vale Civic Centre’s Atrium exhibition space will host this exhibition for the duration of May, including screenings of a documentary video that has been produced especially to accompany the exhibition. The exhibition also acknowledges our Vietnam veterans and their 50 years of life post conflict.
This exhibition is being hosted by Wingecarribee Shire Council in partnership with Moss Vale RSL sub-Branch as well as local organisations and individuals.
Paintings by the multi-award-winning artist, Ben Quilty, will be on display, alongside diverse Vietnam war artefacts. Quilty was Australia’s official war artist in 2011.
Local restaurateur, Nui Dat Charity founder and 2024 Australia Day Citizen Nominee, Vinh Tran, will contribute military memorabilia and a vehicle from his collection ‘Military Vehicle for Charity Inc.’.
The exhibition includes:

Portraits of servicemen in Afghanistan by Ben Quilty.

A documentary video by Ian Holland interviewing three courageous Vietnam veterans.

Military memorabilia and vehicle from Vinh Tran, via the Nui Dat Military Vehicle Museum.

Period Service Photographs of local veterans.

Wingecarribee Remembers is an exhibition acknowledging and celebrating the dedication and sacrifice of Vietnam veterans, and all veterans thereafter.
“On our return, to try and get back into the life we had was extremely difficult,” Rick McCarthy OAM
The exhibition is funded by a grant from the Department of Veterans' Affairs (Saluting their Service) in the hope of promoting meaningful conversations and outcomes in support of our veterans, war widows and war orphans.
