This initiative supports Council’s commitment to waste reduction and the circular economy by diverting textiles from landfill. Collected materials will be processed by RRR Australia through the Canberra Region Joint Organisation (CRJO) Textile Recovery Program, ensuring they are sorted and repurposed sustainably.

The textiles will be picked up by Nowra based textile recycling company RRR Australia (Reuse – Repurpose – Recycle). Items in good condition are donated locally and overseas for reuse. Items that cannot be worn are repurposed into cleaning rags or recycled into new products such as rugs and floormats.
