Earth Hour Planting Day - Bundanoon
Earth Hour is celebrated across the globe every year usually in the third week of March.
Following the success of the first Earth Hour Planting day in Bundanoon last year, we will be expanding on the planted area this year. Jordans Crossing in Bundanoon has pockets of habitat known as the Southern Highlands Shale Woodlands (SHSW) which is a threatened ecological society. Last year we added more plants to the eastern edge of the dog park, this year we will add plants to the northern edge of the dog park.
There is still plenty of space around the dog park to increase biodiversity with more plants within the SHSW species list, continuing to improve the ecological significance of the region.
In addition to SHSW species we will add some Casuarina sp. species essential for Glossy Black Cockatoos as habitat and food trees.
Best places to park are on Ellsmore Road, or Bindar Cres, additionally parking at Bundanoon Bowling club is available and only a short walk to the dog park.
Sausage Sizzle included, please specify if you are vegetarian.
Schools are encouraged to get involved and colour in some tree guards which will be proudly installed with the trees on the day. Reach out to sustainabilityservices@wsc.nsw.gov.au if you have enquiries.
