Recent Results Show PFAS Levels in Drinking Water Continue to Stay Well Below Guidelines

Recent testing of drinking water in the Southern Highlands across both of Wingecarribee’s treatment plants shows PFAS levels remain well below national health guideline values.

Confirming our community’s water supply continues to meet all safety standards, recently reviewed samples showed that again there are NIL detected PFAS levels in our drinking water. The results have also been shared with Water NSW and NSW Health.

PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are manufactured chemicals that have been used in a variety of products. Although they are no longer widely used, Council continues to carry out regular monitoring of the water supply to ensure any trace levels remain within safe limits.

The latest results provide reassurance for the community that drinking water remains safe and compliant with all health requirements. Council will continue routine monitoring of water supplies and publish updates as they become available.
