Wingecarribee Shire Council is proud to support the Veteran Employment Program to help veterans promote their skills to increase employment opportunities.
The program, developed in partnership with the NSW Government, provides tailored support to veterans to help successfully apply their skills and experience in the civilian workplace.
Council recently received a letter from The Hon. Ron Hoenig MP, Minister for Local Government and The Hon David Harris, Minister for Veterans, congratulating Council’s commitment to supporting veterans in their transition to civilian careers.
“It is pleasing to see how Wingecarribee Shire Council has risen to this challenge. Congratulations on being the 32nd council to embrace this opportunity to recognise our veterans”, Minister Hoenig and Minister Harris stated in the letter.
The letter also congratulated Council staff members who were instrumental in developing ways to support veterans with the recruitment process.
Wingecarribee Shire Council General Manager Lisa Miscamble said, “Supporting our veterans is about more than saying thank you, it’s about recognising the skills and expertise of our veterans and how they translate to job opportunities within our organisation," said.
"Through this partnership with the NSW Government, we’re encouraging and supporting veterans to apply their skills and experience to a range of roles that would benefit the entire community", said Lisa Miscamble.
“Council looks forward to working with veterans and local organisations to ensure its success.”
This program supports the NSW Government’s commitment to creating more employment pathways for veterans across the workforce.
