Wingecarribee Shire Council invites the community to come together in recognition and celebration of NAIDOC Week 2025 with a full day of events on at the Civic Centre (68 Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale) on Monday 7 July.
This year’s NAIDOC theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy”, marks 50 years of honouring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience. It’s a celebration of the past and a tribute to the strength, creativity, and potential of future generations.
The day will begin at 10.30am with an Acknowledgement of Country, Smoking Ceremony, and the ceremonial raising of the Aboriginal flag.
From 12pm, step inside the Civic Centre’s Atrium gallery space and experience a powerful new exhibition of contemporary works by local First Nations artists. This exhibition explores identity, cultural continuity, and the enduring strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
At 12.20pm, the celebrations continue with the NAIDOC Family Fun Day. Families are warmly invited to enjoy a free BBQ lunch, children’s cultural activities, and live entertainment in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Wingecarribee Shire Mayor Jesse Fitzpatrick encouraged everyone to take part in the celebrations.
“The NAIDOC Family Fun Day is a fantastic way for local families to come together, celebrate culture, and create memories,” said Mayor Jesse Fitzpatrick.
“It’s a day for kids to learn, play and connect and for all of us to recognise the strength of our First Nations communities. Supporting events like this reflects our commitment to building a Shire that celebrates and creates connection and puts families and children at the heart of what we do,” he said.
