This years’ water meter renewal program will commence on Tuesday, 23 February 2026 and is expected to take up to 2 months to complete.

Each year Wingecarribee Shire Council replaces approximately 300 residential and commercial water meters across the shire. Meters are replaced after 15-20 years due to aging, leaks, inaccurate readings or if they have been reported as missing or inaccessible.

What to Expect:

  • New Plumbing Solutions, the Council-authorised contractor, will letter drop a day or two in advance of the meter replacement date.
  • On the day, they will door knock to confirm that the timing is convenient, and that water is not in use (e.g shower, washing machine)
  • The water will be turned off for about 30 minutes while the meter and valve are replaced, followed by a leak test and line flush.
  • In some cases, vegetation trimming and digging may be needed. If complications arise (e.g., obstructions like hedges or walls), a Council team member will contact the resident or property owner directly prior to proceeding.

Council appreciates resident cooperation in ensuring the smooth completion of the renewal program. For any questions, please contact the Water Services Team on 1300 680 888.
