This Scam Awareness Week (25-29 August), discover practical tips to help you protect yourself and your loved ones from online and phone scams.  

Wingecarribee Shire Council, in partnership with Community Bank BDCU Bowral and NSW Police, invites community members to attend a free Scam Awareness Week Workshop on Tuesday 26 August 2025.  

The workshop will be held from 10.30am to 11.30am, with an optional light morning tea provided from 10am to 10.30am, at The Theatrette located within the Civic Centre, 68 Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale.  

Attendees will learn how to spot scams, what to do if they become a victim, and where to find further help and resources.

Scam Awareness Week 2025: Stop. Check. Protect.  

This year’s Scam Awareness Week theme, Stop. Check. Protect. provides simple steps that anyone can use to spot and avoid scams. The theme encourages people to pause before giving out money or personal information, verify the identity of those contacting them, and act quickly if something seems wrong. 

Support is available for those affected by scams, including Lifeline (13 11 14) and Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636).
