About the works

Council is undertaking remediation works on an approximately 900-metre section of Old South Road, between Bong Bong Road and towards Moss Vale, following accelerated pavement deterioration.

An independent engineering assessment found the road damage is likely caused by a combination of factors, including drainage, moisture ingress and site conditions, rather than a single cause.

The works will improve the long-term performance and safety of this important regional route, which carries around 8,000 vehicle movements each weekday. The works will also help protect the road network for years to come.

Initial pavement and geotechnical investigations

Our contractor will undertake pavement and geotechnical investigations in October 2026 along the 900-metre section between the Bong Bong Road intersection and towards Moss Vale.
