Exeter Road Safety Improvements
Project Overview

The essential Exeter intersection of Badgerys Way, Bundanoon Road, Middle Road and Exeter Road, currently has several issues including poor drainage, damaged road surfaces, missing kerb and gutter, and flooding during heavy rain. The proposed works will improve safety and provide better pedestrian access to and from the Exeter Railway Station. Upgrades include new pedestrian crossings, lighting, footpaths, kerb and gutter, drainage improvements, and pavement reconstruction.

Project Works

The project will include:

  • Stormwater pit and pipe installation
  • 1.8m wide concrete footpath construction
  • Kerb and gutter and pram ramp construction
  • Road pavement reconstruction
  • Construction of raised pedestrian crossings
  • Installation of street lighting at pedestrian crossings
  • Tree/shrubs removals, installation of signs and line marking
Community Impacts

As Exeter Road is a key route for the community to Exeter Station, Southern Highlands Croquet Club, Rural Fire Station, village markets, church, café, and regional connections, access for residents and emergency services will be maintained throughout the construction period. The works may be completed in stages to minimise disruption to road users and nearby properties.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to remain vigilant for heavy machinery and construction personnel in the area, follow the traffic signage and traffic controllers on site, observe variable message boards and exercise caution when travelling through the work zones.
