Over a quarter of residents living in the Wingecarribee Shire are 60 years old or greater. These residents are an integral and essential part of our community and it should be recognised that enjoying a valued role as well as a meaningful life in our community as we grow older is something that everyone should be able to aspire to.
Wingecarribee Shire Council encourages active ageing and recognises and celebrates the many benefits that the ageing population contributes to the community.
Council also recognises that an ageing population presents a range of challenges that need to be addressed. Council has developed the Positive Ageing Strategy to address these challenges and to get people thinking about the future they see for themselves. The strategy looks at how Council can maximise the positive aspects of ageing and the opportunities to promote independence, healthy ageing and increase participation in community life.
A wide range of services and local groups are available in our area to help people maintain their independence and remain active and involved as they get older.
