Citizenship Ceremony

Wingecarribee Shire hosts Citizenship Ceremonies to welcome those in our community who are taking the step to become an Australian citizen.

Once eligible participants receive confirmation of approval from the Department of Home Affairs, Council will send an invitation via email to attend an upcoming ceremony via email approximately one month prior to a scheduled ceremony date. This invitation will include all details for the ceremony and what you will need to bring with you on the day.

Once you have received confirmation from Department of Home Affairs, there can be up to a six-month wait to be included in a Citizenship Ceremony due to volume of applications being processed by the Department of Home Affairs.

Upcoming Citizenship Ceremonies

2 December 2025 - Bowral Memorial Hall (note: invitations for those included in this ceremony have already been distributed).

26 January 2026 - Berrima

If you are unable to attend, your certificate will be sent back to the Department of Home Affairs and you will be included in the list for the next scheduled ceremony.

Note: You are not eligible to become an Australian citizen until you have read the Australian Citizenship Pledge in the presence of the Presiding Officer, so in person attendance is mandatory.
