  • Water fluoridation is the process of adding fluoride to drinking water to help reduce tooth decay in children and adults. You gain the benefits of fluoride each day that you drink or brush your teeth with tap water.

  • In Bundanoon, fluoride is added to the water supply at the recommended level for optimising dental health of 1ppm (part per million).

  • To ensure the long-term reliability and quality of water supply for the community of Bundanoon and surrounding villages, we completed extensive upgrades to Bundanoon Creek Water Treatment Plant fluoride dosing system in November 2023.

  • While this will bring the fluoride dosing system up to modern standards, the upgrades are now pending inspection by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), and subsequent approval by NSW Health.

  • This necessary process has led to a temporary interruption to fluoride dosing of the water supply to the communities of Bundanoon, Exeter, Sutton Forest, and parts of Moss Vale. NSW Health advises that the community will not receive the benefits of water fluoridation to their oral health at this time.

  • We will resume fluoridation of the water supply at the earliest opportunity so that community members continue to receive the benefits.
