Urban Tree Management Strategy, Plan and Policy

The Wingecarribee Urban Tree Management Strategy, Plan and Policy were adopted by Council on 19 November 2025.

The Wingecarribee Urban Tree Management Strategy and Plan has been developed to guide the ongoing management of our urban trees in a way that reflects the needs and expectations of our community. As part of this work, Council is taking a holistic approach to tree management, with a particular focus on understanding and strengthening canopy coverage to ensure we have a clear and resilient vision for the Shire’s future.

The Strategy and Plan considers the collective ecological, environmental, economic, cultural and social benefits provided by urban trees across Wingecarribee. Its objective is to deliver a sustainable and strategic framework that supports effective planning, maintenance, enhancement and long-term management of our urban tree population.

Through the implementation of this Strategy and Plan, Council will continue to protect, enhance and expand the trees that help define and beautify our towns and villages—ensuring a healthy and vibrant urban forest for the community now and into the future.
