On 31 January 2023, Council entered into a funding deed agreement and received a $2.899m grant as part of the New South Wales Government’s, Round 2 “Fixing Country Bridges - Grant Funding Program”, designated for the replacement of the Nattai Creek Bridge located on Ferguson Crescent in Mittagong.
The existing bridge is a heritage listed item (item no. I1885) of local heritage significance. This bridge was built in the 1898, in excess of 125 years old which is more than the usual useful life of a bridge of this kind.
Physical construction works for this project are due to commence mid-to-late June 2025 and are scheduled for completion by the end of the calendar year (weather permitting).
The works include:
Ferguson Crescent (between the Old Hume Highway and Bong Bong Road) will be closed for the duration of the works. This closure will enable the construction of the new structure and for the safety of both the workers and the public.
Access will be facilitated for local residents and businesses from the Bong Bong Road intersection end of the works. Road users and pedestrians are to be aware of heavy machinery and workers in the area, and exercise caution when travelling through the work zone.
