Household Chemical CleanOut

Overview

The Household Chemical CleanOut event is held once a year and allows residents to drop off their unwanted household chemicals free of charge, including cleaners, garden chemicals, paints, and batteries.

The next Household Chemical CleanOut event will be held on Sunday 21 May 2023 from 9 am until 3:30 pm at Council's Moss Vale Works Depot. Entry is via the Parkes Road and exit via Berrima Road. 

Chemicals that can be disposed

Chemicals that can be disposed at the Household Chemical CleanOut include residential quantities (20 kg or 20 litre maximum container sizes) of;

  • Solvents and household cleaners
  • Floor care products
  • Ammonia-based cleaners
  • Pesticides and herbicides
  • Poisons
  • Pool chemicals
  • Hobby chemicals
  • Motor fuels
  • Fluorescent globes and tubes
  • Acids and alkalis
  • Smoke detectors
  • Paint and paint-related products
  • Gas bottles
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Car and household batteries
  • Motor oils and cooking oils

Funding

This annual event is hosted by Council through the support of the Environment Levy and the NSW Environment Protection Agency (EPA).  

This is a NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative, funded from the Waste Levy.

Many household items (other than chemicals) can be disposed of year round at our local Community Recycling Centre (CRC). See the CRC website for more information.
