Possible odour

Tues 18th December 2018

Council is required to conduct a maintenance program at monthly intervals to ensure best operational practices and regulatory compliance. Although Council implements managerial protocols during this process, unfortunately the practice may still result in residents noticing odour release. These scheduled works are impacted by wet weather and operational demands.

Merrigang Street, Bowral

Sewer Main Construction

Commencing 17th Jan 2018

The works will involve laying a new trench along the roadway and the construction of a new 225mm sewer main by specialist contractor Carve Earthworks. Construction will be carried out over a distance of 350 metres between the intersections of Queen Street and Jasmine Street.

Hours of construction will be 7.00am to 6.00pm Mondays to Saturdays.

During these construction hours a lane of the immediate work area will be temporarily closed to through traffic. Detour will be in place through Jasmine Street for east bound traffic and Queen Street for west bound traffic.

The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-February 2018. All timeframes are subject to weather conditions.

Water & Sewer Network Renewals & UpgradesTo be completed Feb 2019

As part of an ongoing water and sewer assets improvement program and to ensure a high quality, fully maintained reliable system , Council is planning to upgrade and renew essential water mains, water meters, sewer mains and manholes.

Council has engaged the contractor Carve Earthworks and Construction Pty Ltd to undertake these works and their staff will be carrying identification cards at all times.

Trenchless techniques will be used wherever possible to reduce the construction impacts; however the renewal works will require some excavation. Customers and business will be notified in advance of any works in their area which may impact them.

Regrettably due to the nature of the program minimal interruptions may occur to customer’s water and sewerage services, therefore contractor on behalf of Council will contact impacted residents in advance. Inevitably some residents may also experience localised noise and traffic disruptions during construction.

Areas affected by the works will be reinstated as close as possible to their original condition, including any grassed areas, roads, footpaths and driveways. All reasonable steps will be taken to minimise damage and restore land as soon as practicable to its pre-construction condition.

The extensive program of works will be located within the areas of Moss Vale, Bowral, Mittagong, Welby, Colo Vale, Willow Vale and Burradoo and is planned to be completed by February 2019.
All necessary WHS procedures and traffic controls will be in place and managed accordingly in the affected areas.
