Planning Proposal - Aitken Road Heritage Bowral

On 29 November 2019 the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (NSWDPIE) issued a Gateway Determination to progress a Planning Proposal to amend Wingecarribee Local Environmental Plan 2010 to add a new heritage item in Aitken Road, Bowral, and add a new conservation area in Aitken and Kangaloon Roads, Bowral.

The proposed heritage item comprises nos. 25-27 Aitken Road (known as ‘Glenfarne’), 33-37 Aitken Road (known as ‘Grantham’) and 39-41 Aitken Road (known as ‘Barkfold’) and is to be called the Aitken Road Interwar Housing Group. The proposed heritage conservation area comprises nos. 12-30 & 25-43 Aitken Road and nos. 56, 58 and 60 Kangaloon Road, Bowral, and is to be called the Aitken Road Conservation Area.

The Proposal is now exhibited in accordance with the NSWDPIE Gateway requirements and submissions are sought from the community.

Public Exhibition Dates:

The Planning Proposal is on public exhibition for a period of 31 days from Wednesday 15 January 2020 to Friday 14 February 2020.

The Planning Proposal and associated documentation may be inspected at Council’s Customer Service Counter, Civic Centre, 68 Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale NSW 2577, between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday during each week of the exhibition period. Exhibition material is also available to view and download below and may also be viewed at the Bowral and Mittagong Libraries and the ROADS mobile library during advertised opening hours throughout the exhibition period.

Make a Submission:

Written submissions to the Planning Proposal may be completed online at 

www.yoursaywingecarribee.com.au/submission, hand delivered to the Civic Centre at the address provided above, emailed to mail@wsc.nsw.gov.au, or posted to Wingecarribee Shire Council, PO Box 141, Moss Vale NSW 2577.

Only written submissions can be considered and, although they may be viewed by a third party, they are redacted beforehand (i.e. all identifying features removed).

All submissions must be received by Council before 4.30pm on Friday 14 February 2020 and quote file reference 5901/68.


It is noted that Wingecarribee Shire Council is NOT authorised to exercise the functions of the Minister for Planning under section 3.36 of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 with regard to this Planning Proposal.
