Current Status

At the Council meeting of 24 June 2020, Council resolved to endorse the Planning Proposal to create the 'Aitken Road Interwar Housing Group' heritage item and the Aitken Road Conservation Area and to send the Planning Proposal to the NSWDPIE for final processing.

Steps that will be undertaken by the NSWDPIE will be to arrange for legal drafting of an amendment to the Wingecarribee Local Environmental Plan (WLEP) 2010. Once the draft amendment and accompanying maps have been finalised, they will be published and the heritage item and heritage conservation area will be included in Schedule 5 of the WLEP 2010.

Delegation

It is noted that Wingecarribee Shire Council is NOT authorised to exercise the functions of the Minister for Planning under section 3.36 of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979 with regard to this Planning Proposal. This means that instead of Council (under delegation), the NSWDPIE will write the report to the Minister with recommendations on this Planning Proposal.
