Wingecarribee Shire Council invites you to join us for a special community event - The Plastic Free FREE Lunch at Moss Vale Community Gardens to celebrate Plastic Free July.
The lunch will go from 10am until 1pm and include:
Learn how to get a thriving veggie garden going, even in the cool of winter and see some great practical ideas on how to reuse plastic in the garden
What is that plastic straw actually made from? How does it get to the local café? Where does it go once you are finished with it? These questions and more will be answered when exploring the lifecycle of the straw from production to consumption.
Sit down to some wood fired vegetarian pizza, made on site with produce directly from the garden. And if you are gluten free, don’t worry, we have you covered with some delicious hearty soup, also straight from the garden
There are some very common questions when it comes to how we can realistically rid our lives of plastics. After lunch we are going to form small working groups and tackle some of these questions. Your ideas will then be spread to the wider community through Council’s Facebook and website.
Volunteers at the Moss Vale Community Gardens are busy making some great reusable items for you to purchase. Items include boomerang bags; bees wax wraps and mesh produce bags. They will also help you to learn how to make these things yourself.
We will have some educational resources to take home that will help keep you informed and able to educate and influence others around you.
Numbers are limited for this lunch, so make sure to book a spot soon.
We want you to hold onto and bring any single use plastic items you have used that week. These will serve as a conversation piece at our lunch. (we will also aim to recycle as many of these on the day as possible)
Also, don’t forget your appetite and enclosed shoes.
