Earth Hour was established in 2007 by WWF Australia and is now an internationally recognised event with millions of people around the world taking part in switching off their lights for 60 minutes as a symbolic gesture of solidarity to show they care about our planet’s future.

Wingecarribee has partnered with the beautiful Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens for the past 6 years.

Since 2018, the Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens has invited the community to celebrate environmental sustainability and action by putting on a community Earth Hour event in collaboration with Wingecarribee Shire Council. Past Earth Hour events have had various workshops for kids and adults, local sustainable business stalls, plants, fun family activities, entertainment, an outdoor film, drinks, food and more, there is something for everyone.

We have unfortunately had to cancel Earth Hour due to too many conflicting events in the area, we hope to continue these celebrations in 2025.
