Council is committed to a zero tolerance approach to fraud and corruption. In support of this commitment and in accordance with relevant legislative obligations, Council has developed a suite of policies to guide the ethical behaviour of Council officials and any businesses that Council has dealings with. The policies also establish the framework for how reports of suspected fraud and corruption will be managed. These policies include:
Under its Gifts and Benefits Policy (adopted 13 February 2019), Council has committed to making its Gifts and Benefits Register publicly available on its website in accordance with section 7 (Authorised proactive release of government information) of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act). Where appropriate, the Register has been amended for online publication to avoid the unnecessary disclosure of personal information, as permitted under the GIPA Act. This register is updated on a six monthly basis.
