Wingecarribee, our Home: A Geographical Interpretation of the Southern Highlands of New South Wales was published in 2006 by U3A -Southern Highlands Inc. (part of the international University of the Third Age movement) with assistance from Wingecarribee Shire Council.
Drawing heavily on official data, the book described the biophysical and socio-economic patterns across Wingecarribee Shire as they were early in the twenty-first century. It put those patterns into perspectives, such as through comparisons with New South Wales. The book also explained the patterns using descriptive analyses and conclusions from other studies, as well as suggesting some issues that arise for planning and management.
The book may be downloaded as an e-book from Wingecarribee Public Library or by downloading from the following link:
While the work was intended to be used as an authoritative reference and much of its content remains relevant, a lot of the detail is now dated. Wingecarribee Public Libraries hold a publicly accessible CD-ROM made in 2018 which contains some hundreds of maps, tables and graphs which update the content of the book.
Wingecarribee Shire Council accepts no responsibility for the accuracy of the material and does not necessarily endorse any interpretation or conclusions that might be drawn from the material.
