Annual Water Meter Renewal Program Set to Commence: What you need to know

This years’ water meter renewal program will commence on Tuesday, 29 April 2025 and is expected to take two to four weeks.

Each year Council replaces approximately 350 residential and commercial water meters across the shire. Meters are replaced after 15-20 years due to aging, leaks, inaccurate readings or if they have been reported as missing or inaccessible.

What to Expect:

  • DataRight, the Council-authorised contractor, will letter drop a day or two in advance of the meter replacement date.

  • On the day, they will door knock to confirm that the timing is convenient, and that water is not in use.

  • The water will be turned off for about 30 minutes while the meter and valve are replaced, followed by a leak test and line flush.

  • In some cases, vegetation trimming and digging may be needed. If complications arise (e.g., obstructions like hedges or walls), a Council team member will contact the resident or property owner directly prior to proceeding.

We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the smooth completion of the renewal program. For any questions, please contact the Water Services Team on
