Threatened Species

The Southern Highlands is home to 40 threatened or endangered native plant species and 42 threatened or endangered native animal species.

Council  Threatened Species Day which occurs every year on September 7.

By focusing attention on the plight of our threatened animals and plants, Council aims to encourage greater community support and hands-on involvement to prevent further losses of Australia's unique natural heritage.

The profiles have been developed to help build awareness of which animals and their supporting habitats are unique and special to Wingecarribee Shire.
