Threatened Species

The Southern Highlands is home to 40 threatened or endangered native plant species and 42 threatened or endangered native animal species.

Council celebrates Threatened Species Day each year on September 7th.

By focusing attention on the plight of our threatened animals and plants, Council aims to encourage greater community support and hands-on involvement to prevent further losses of Australia's unique natural heritage.

For further information regarding Threatened Species contact Council's Environmental Protects Officer on 4868 0813.
