Liquid Trade Waste

Council needs to ensure that wastewater from residential and commercial/industrial premises can be safely transported, treated and disposed of in an environmentally sustainable way.

Policy for discharge of Liquid Trade Waste into Council's Sewer.

A person / business wishing to discharge liquid trade waste to the sewerage system must, under section 68 of the Local Government Act 1993, obtain prior approval from Wingecarribee Shire Council. Discharging liquid trade waste without an approval is an offence under section 626 of the Act. See downloadable document below..

The Approval sets out the conditions under which property owners can discharge waste to the sewerage system and is a State Government requirement under the Local Government Act.

Businesses generally fall under Four different Categories

• Category One, Commercial premises requiring Nil or minimal Pre-treatment.
• Category Two, Commercial premises requiring Pre-treatment of a particular nature.
• Category Three, Commercial premises with large discharges ( over 20 k/L per day ) and/ or Industrial wastes.
• Category S, Septic tank and Pan waste Dischargers.

Liquid trade waste Application forms are available from Council's Customer Services Centre or may be downloaded by clicking on the links below. These forms can be lodged with the appropriate fee by mailing to The Liquid Trade Waste Officer P.O.Box 141 Moss Vale NSW 2577, or bringing in to the Customer Services Centre at the Civic Centre, Elizabeth Street Moss Vale.
