At Home With Your Wood Heater - Session 2
Land For Wildlife is a free, voluntary program which aims to encourage and assist private landholders to provide habitats for wildlife on their property, even though the property may be managed primarily for other purposes.
The minimum size of the habitat to be protected is 0.5 hectare (just over 1 acre).
Get to know the animals that are living on your land through free interactive wildlife surveying workshops. Following an overview of local biodiversity conservation programs and threatened species you will be shown how to use a motion detector camera to survey your wildlife. You will then borrow the camera for two weeks and the images collected will be collated for you and a species list prepared.

Wingecarribee Shire's plants and animals cannot be conserved adequately by the public reserve system alone. The Southern Highlands is a critical pinch point within the Great Eastern Ranges and we need to retain corridors and connect bushland remnants. This is why Council is encouraging and supporting landholders within the shire to take steps towards conserving the natural features on their properties.
Habitat for Wildlife is for smaller properties and urban residents. Land for Wildlife is for larger properties with areas for conservation that exceed 0.5 hectares. These programs are funded by Environment Levy and are free to join.
Interested landholders should print and complete an Expression of Interest form (below). A sample Landholder Agreement is available to download. Complete the EOI and email to firstname.lastname@example.org or post to:
