Planned Water Main Renewal

15th August 2017

Crews are completing the renewal of a section of water main. Supply will impact residents on James Street (full length) a section of Robertson Road (Illawarra Highway) from Young Road to James Street. The planned water outage will be from 9.00am until 4.00pm.

Water Main Flushing Program19 June to 23 June 2017

Council is conducting a program of water mains flushing in Exeter & Bundanoon. This is to help remove minute sediments that inevitably build up in all water main systems. It helps keep the water supply from our taps clean, healthy and clear. Cleaning the Water Mains is an essential maintenance activity that enhances the quality of water.


Notification letters have been issued to affected residents. Residents may experience a drop in pressure while we carry out this activity and in some areas, water may stop for longer durations however will return upon completion. The outage should last approximately 1-2 hours, however due to the nature of work involved the length of the supply impact could be up to 8 hours.

Water & Sewer Network Renewals & UpgradesCommencing June 2017 for 12 Months

Council has engaged Carve Earthworks & Construction Pty Ltd have been engaged to conduct a 12 month replacement program involving upgrading and replacing water mains, water meters, sewer mains and manholes in various locations in the Wingecarribee Shire.


These works are being carried out to ensure our water and sewerage systems operate at peak performance and continue to provide our customers with safe, reliable and continuous water and wastewater services.


Should the contractor require entry into a property, letters will be issued to the homeowner prior. Pipe renewals will be conducted utilising trenchless technology where possible. Areas where works are carried out will be restored after construction.

Smoke Testing ProgrammeJune 2017 to August 2017

Council has engaged Interflow Pty Ltd to undertake a smoke-testing program whereby the contractor pumps an odourless smoke or dense mist into the sewerage system to detect faults and illegal connections. This programme assists Council to locate cracks, leaks, illegal connections and aids in minimising the amount of infiltration entering the sewerage system. These smoke tests are quick, safe, odourless and non-toxic.


Should access to private property be required, letters will be issued to the homeowner by the contractor, prior to carrying out the works.


Council wishes to remind residents who may see any smoke escaping from roof gutters, down pipes or drains that there is no need for alarm.

Council has engaged GMA Environmental Services to undertake sewer main cleaning and CCTV inspections.

Customers affected by the works will be notified by way of letter drop at least 48 hours prior to the works starting. 

The works involve the following activities:
- High pressure cleaning of council's sewer pipes
- CCTV inspection to identify defects and assess the condition of the sewer pipes.
- Traffic control where required. 

Access to water and sewer services will still be available during the works.

Council recommends that affected customers keep water use to a minimum and as a precautionary measure keep all toilet lids closed and sinks & baths plugged when not in use.

Council is extending the existing carpark to provide additional parking at the East Bowral Community Centre. During construction sections of the carpark and footpath in the immediate vicinity of works may be temporarily closed to allow the movement of construction vehicles. Retford Park Estate West subdivision is currently under construction. Part of the approved works includes the construction of a new roundabout on Boardman Road to provide access to the new Estate.
