Aged Care Forum

Date: Thursday, 6 April 2017

Time: 9am - 1pm

Venue: Civic Centre Theatrette, Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale 2577

Wingecarribee Shire Council wants to hear direct from employers and experts in the aged care sector about their future training and recruitment needs.

In 2016 a working group with representatives from Council, the University of Wollongong (UOW) Southern Highlands, TAFE Moss Vale and school and community sectors identified a need to revise training and education programs to meet the growing needs of the aged care sector.

There have been several exciting developments in education and training locally including:

  • the announcement by TAFE Moss Vale to commence a Certificate IV in Ageing Support in April 2017,
  • the confirmation of the presence of UOW Southern Highlands following the 2015 Academic Review of Regional Campuses, and
  • the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between UOW and Council in August 2016.

As a senior executive in the Aged Care sector we want to hear your opinion on the expansion of formal course delivery and professional development. A frontline staff member is also encouraged to attend.

The forum will be facilitated by Claudia Perry-Beltrame from Cultural Inspirations.

We look forward to hearing your views on the direction that education and training should take in the long-term to support your staffing needs.

In the weeks prior to the event, we will be sending out participants some statistics and ‘thought-starters’ to help you prepare for the forum.

To RSVP, please contact Belinda Serone on (02) 4868 0789 or email belinda.serone@wsc.nsw.gov.au.
