Bowral Floodplain Risk Management Study
Last modified: June 9, 2009 - 11:25 AM
Wingecarribee Shire Council commissioned Bewsher Consulting Pty Ltd to prepare a Flood Study, Floodplain Risk Management Study (FRMS) and Floodplain Risk Management Plan (FRMP) for two catchments in Bowral: the main Mittagong Creek catchment and the “Beavan Place” sub-catchment.
The creek catchment starts to the east of Old South Road, runs under a number of Bowral streets, passes under the railway near the Swimming Centre and travels along the western side of the railway past the Sewerage Treatment Plant before joining the Wingecarribee River. The study includes all surrounding land that drains into Mittagong Creek.
The aim of the study is to assess potential flood behaviour in the study area and develop a plan for mitigating the effects of potential flooding in Bowral. The study will form part of the overall Floodplain Risk Management process in accordance with the NSW State Government Floodplain Development Manual.
