Quadruple Bottom Line AssessmentLast modified: August 9, 2007 - 3:54 PM
QBL - Governance, Economic, Social and Environment Council has been awarded funding through the NSW Environment Trust to undertake an assessment of our performance to the Quadruple Bottom line and the establishment of a QBL or sustainability action plan. We are using an assessment process which is in place within Boral and been used for a number of years. The assessment looks at the key elements associated with the four pillars of QBL. The assessment will be undertaken through the management team at Council who will answer a series of questions about the systems and operations. These responses are then ranked against a formal criteria which gives a performance level against the quadruple bottom line. From this information Council can then deicide whether the performance is appropriate or that further work is required. The assessment is coordinated as part of Council’s annual corporate planning cycle with any outcomes incorporated into the programs in place. It is expected that the assessment and performance level will be completed by April 2008.GOVERNANCE KEY ELEMENTS Governance and leadership Corporate Performance Financial Management Risk Management Customer Service, Community relations and reporting Human resources and workforce planning OH&S Management Information Services Purchasing and Procurement ECONOMIC KEY ELEMENTS Economic Development Tourism and events Infrastructure and asset management SOCIAL KEY ELEMENTS Community wellbeing and social justice Community Services Recreational Services ENVIRONMENTAL KEY ELEMENTS Landuse planning, development and management Energy consumption and greenhouse emission Waste and resources management, recycling and re-use Water conservation and consumption Ecosystem and Biodiversity management
