The Bong Bong Track - one of our best creations

The Bong Bong Track - one of our best creations

Not sure if all our residents of the Shire are aware yet of this brilliant facility we have created along the Wingecarribee River ? A shared path for walkers and cyclists which will eventually link Moss Vale with Bowral and the rest of our cycleway network.

Take a stroll from the Burradoo end one morning. You will be amazed at the birdlife and other things you see along the way. Hundreds of waterbirds, a couple of parrot species, colourful kingfishers and huge black cockatoos were chattering away last Saturday morning as local residents strolled leisurely along the track. A kookaburra was feeding her young ones in a big dead tree beside the track and piles of possum poo revealed a busy night for our nocturnal friends. Some huge Burradoo homes are on one side, and across the river, cows and farmland. There are paths winding back up to a couple of roads in Burradoo if you don't want to walk all the way.

When the link is eventually finished, residents and visitors in this Shire will have a first rate recreational facility funded almost entirely by developer contributions and RTA grant money. The only down side is that this track is going to become so popular, the luxury of a quiet Saturday morning stroll among the birds will be punctuated by a few more passing people, but what the heck, that's what it is there for!
