Draft Agency Information Guide

BACKGROUND

On 26 April 2017 Council resolved to place the draft Agency Information Guide (Information Guide) on public exhibition.

The Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) obliges agencies, including councils, to have an Information Guide that meets the requirements of the GIPA Act. Council's current Information Guide is made available free of charge on Council's website in accordance with the GIPA Act.

The draft Information Guide which is on public exhibition has been amended to take into consideration the guidance provided by the NSW Information Commissioner in GIPA Guideline 6: Agency Information Guides. This guidance document can be accessed at the website for the NSW Information and Privacy Commission.

By describing Council's functions, responsibilities and organisational structure, the draft Information Guide aims to promote a better understanding of Council's work in the community and inform members of the public about the ways in which the community can participate in Council's decision-making processes. It also details the various types of information held by Council and how that information can be accessed.

EXHIBITION PERIOD

Wednesday 10 May to Tuesday 6 June 2017.
