Aboriginal Language Poetic Workshops

Red Room Poetry is Australia’s leading organisation for the creation and commissioning of new poetry by established and emerging poets as well as students. The Wingecarribee Shire is excited to have Kirli Saunders a teacher, poet and children's author, currently managing the poetic learning projects visit the Southern Highlands and conduct Aboriginal Language Poetic workshops for all children aged between 5 - 18 years of age.

When: Wednesday 22nd and 29th November

Time: 4.30 -5.30pm

2018 Williams and Cosgrove Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Scholarships

The Southern Highlands Foundation is offering local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who live in the Greater Southern Highlands a scholarship to attend the University of Wollongong in 2018. 

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance annually to support an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person or persons to undertake university studies. The scholarship will assist the successful applicant to gain a university qualification that will build knowledge and skills to strengthen their future employment opportunities.

The Williams and Cosgrove Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Scholarships provides an award of five thousand dollars annually for the completion of a three to four year study program.
Scholarship information is available online through the University of Wollongong scholarship

Koori Kulcha: A FREE Healthy Eating Program for Mums and Bubs

• Our FREE program is designed to assist young mothers to learn cooking skills with healthy eating options
• Course duration is 5 weeks
• Commencing Wednesday 17TH OF OCTOBER
• Participants get to take home a hamper full of healthy food choices, to continue their learning and practice new food skills with the family!
