The Arts and Culture Board Working Group provides a vehicle for community participation, representation and consultation in Council's cultural planning processes.

Wingecarribee Arts and Culture Board Working Group

The Arts and Culture Board Working Group provides a vehicle for community participation, representation and consultation in Council's cultural planning processes.  It provides a structured and open process for community input into:

  • Council planning, policies and decision making with respect to arts and cultural issues, activities, resources and infrastructure
  • Council advocacy and lobbying of other levels of governments with respect to identified community needs or issues regarding arts and cultural issues, activities and infrastructure

The primary objectives of the Arts and Culture Board are to:

  • act as an avenue for communication between the community in general, citizens, community associations and Council regarding arts and cultural development needs, issues and acitivities in the community; and to
  • provide advice to Council and other community representatives on matters concerning arts and cultural activity and community cultural development that affect the Shire and including facilities and resources they require.

Committee Membership

The membership of the Board is comprised of -

*  Two Councillors - Councillor Juliet Arkwright (Chair) and Councillor Graham McLaughlin

*  STARTS Regional Arts Development Officer - Elizabeth Brown

*  5 Community representatives including representatives of community organisations who work with or represent the arts

The Arts and Culture Board Working Group seeks people with significant experience in the practice, administration and appreciation of arts and cultural activity.

Arts and cultural activity refers to the practice and appreciation of: the performing arts, and visual and multimedia arts; crafts; literature; music and song; dance; and the preservation of our history and heritage.
